Just got back from my test drive. Track pack/Brembos, 3.73's, stick in Grabber Blue.
Two words-
I WANT!
Very smooth and easy to shift, gobs of power on tap, brakes are outstanding and feel just right for the weight, 3.73's are perfect, handling is extremely tight, as is the steering. Overall I am very impressed, only now wanting to drive the auto for comparison, which will be happening soon.
There was one caveat, however,, they have an '09 GT500 on the lot with 20 miles, never been titled, vert all white with cloth top and black side stripes they said I could take for $41. The 5.0 was $44 in the vert, $37 for the coupe with the options test driven.
I still have a couple years of pymts on mine so would have to sell privately to someone wanting a modified 6 to clear it and start from scratch, and either car will ring in a hefty monthly payment. I may wait til they hit the scene used and in numbers to get that price down to more sane figures.
Decisions, Decisions.......

Just tested a Manual 5.0 with 3.55 gears today. Silver with red leather interior. I'm in love.

My Dad is buying one but he wants the best gas mileage. We were thinking 3.31 gearing but in sixth gear it seems bogged down and sticker says they get the same highway mileage. Thoughts? I was going to start a thread but decided instead to ask here first.

Get the 3.55 gears with a 1pc driveshaft = better MPG then a 3.31 car

I went back and drove the car again yesterday, big mistake, the more I drive it the more I want it. lol. But I just wanted to check out some things a little closer this time and I came up with the same conclusion, this is the best driving and handling new Mustang I have ever been in. The 3.73 gears are just perfect for the car and I really think with a cai and tune running some 93 octane it will be even better.
For now I will wait to buy one though as the Grabber Blue is really not for me and if I do get one I will order it from the factory to get exactly what I want.

I thought it already had a CAI...
I haven't driven the 5.0 yet, but I did drive the v6 automatic. The accelerator isn't too responsive, but it is fast. Just not as fast as my 2006 GT.
I saw a stage 2 Roush here in Houston for 34k and I almost bought it... It was cheaper than some of the standard 5.0s on the lot!

I'm happy with my new house for now. Only a few more days before I move in!! Well, I guess i need a house before I buy a new stang, that way I have a nice stable to put her in...
